Below are some notes I jotted down in my research log about the similarities and differences between Niemann and Steinberg’s work.
Overall, I would argue that both artists create “fun” and playful images, that seem instinctive in their use of found objects as inspiration for, or as a component part of, an image. They create images that are humorous in nature while sending a message or portraying meaning to the viewer. Both artists produce work that feels experimental, as if they are/were trying to push boundaries. They each have their own ‘style’ but they do not settle on the same content or method.
